About Us
Melanie Giddings, a native of Ontario, began her career in the racing industry as an assistant to Hall of Fame trainers Mark Casse and Steve Asmussen. She then worked as an assistant to Jeremiah Englehart for nearly six years. In 2020, while still working with Englehart, Giddings was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian and endocervical cancer, which led her to undergo several rounds of chemotherapy before achieving remission.
The prospect of starting her own training career hadn't crossed her mind until her life-threatening illness changed her perspective. With a renewed outlook on life, Giddings officially started her career as lead trainer in January 2023.
A few months later, owner Bill Parcells transferred stakes winner Maple Leaf Mel—named in her honor—into her barn. Giddings was the trainer of record when the 3-year-old New York-bred filly won the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont Park, marking Giddings' first graded stakes victory.
Melanie's racing stable continues to expand and now has locations at Belmont, Saratoga, and Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida. Her passion for racing and dedication to the horses in her care remain the driving forces behind her operation.
